REVIEW  OF WAVE CONVERTERS & PATENTS

An attenuator is a floating device which operates parallel to the wave direction and effectively rides the waves. These devices capture energy from the relative motion of the two arms as the wave  passes them.

In physics, attenuation is the gradual loss in intensity of any kind of flux through a medium, hence the attenuator is the device that causes the energy to be diminished in the wave and absorbed in the device, in this sense all wave energy converters are attenuators.
