A point absorber is a floating structure which absorbs energy from all directions through its movements at/near the water surface. It converts the motion of the float relative to the base, fixed to the seabed, into a useable power form. The power take-off system may be: high speed rotary generator, linear generator, liquid and air pump or turbine.

Patents show near & off  shore systems with Pump, Rotary and Linear Generator PTO devices.
