A point absorber is a floating structure which absorbs energy from all directions through its movements at or near the water surface. It converts the motion of the float relative to the base, mounted on the ground, into a useable power form. The power take-off system may be: high speed rotary generator, linear generator, liquid and air pump or turbine.

Patents show on shore systems with Pump and Rotary PTO devices.
